He cannot resist feeling her body with his hands, and soon has his fingers playing with the top of her legs. He tells Lydia that he may keep her as a prisoner for awhile in order to have some exciting sexual fun.
Lydia is terrified and thinks about what will happen.
This author really knows what men like for reading pleasure and paints sizzling sex scenes to stretch their imagination and keep the reader’s eyes glued to the book.

I haven't read a good book in years due to my busy life so I came across Dead Wrong while searching for a thriller/suspense book. I love mysteries and detectives shows and stories and I could not put this book down. The ending of each chapter has you eagerly wanting to keep reading. I finished this book in a day and I'm a pretty slow reader because I get distracted easily but this book had my complete attention. The booked moved at a steady pace and although the there were a lot of characters, every character had their place and purpose. If you're looking for a good book to keep you on the edge of your seat, I definitely recommend you read this book!!!
The novel opens with the cruelty of bullying followed by an act of horror and depravity, a foreboding promise leading the reader into a shocking novel of suspense that drags the reader into the story and won't let go.
Calladine and Bayliss are detective partners in this gripping, grisly murder mystery. They are great detectives but flawed individuals. Of Calladine one might say Oh, what a muddle Tom makes of his personal life.
The protagonists are well-defined, emotionally rich and believable. They come to life through their dialogue and thoughts and through their personal lives and weaknesses.
British slang is incorporated into the novel, which is not a distraction, rather a pleasant change. Reviewed by the author of The Children's Story, About Good and Evil.
Detective Inspector Tom Calladine and Detective Sergeant Ruth Bayliss were called to a gruesome find at the local playground in Leesdon, England. A plastic bag with human fingers inside was the beginning of a horrific and brutal crime spree by a psychopathic killer who had no thought for his victims. Calladine and Bayliss were sure the crime was connected to the Hobfield housing estate where drug sales, criminals and the poor came together in one big area of poverty and illegal activities.
With much worse to follow, nothing much to go on and personal issues getting in the way, Calladine was frustrated but determined to catch the maniac who was terrorizing Leesdon. But could he? Would they apprehend him before anyone else died? And what was the motive?
Dead Wrong by Helen H. Durrant is the 1st in the Calladine and Bayliss series, and my first by this author. It moves along at a cracking pace, with enough twists and turns to keep the pages flying by – the grisly murders are a little unpleasant; the twist at the end was unexpected. Recommended to fans of psychological thrillers.
This was definitely formula writing - I felt as though I had read this book but with different character names and a different author! DI Callandine is an insightful cop, one that likes to play his hunches, follow his instincts. His DCI Jones, of course, wants to rein him in, and in so doing, causes a bit of tension while appearing to be a dangerous fool. Sound familiar? Then there is the relationship between Callandine and his DS, Ruth. They are confidantes with her taking more verbal liberties than a DS would in reality. The perpetrator of some very, very bad graphically described violence is stereotypically someone who is avenging (perceived) violence toward someone he cared about. The violence truly is over the top and not to be read by the faint hearted. I question whether the degree of description is within necessary bounds. Any reader would know who the villain is at least by 3/4 through the book but not his true identity. The planned "aha" moment is more of an "oh, really?" It's not very believable, I'm afraid, or very mind-blowing, as I think is intended by the author. I always strive to begin a series with the first book to determine future reads...I'll pass on this one.
